How to care for plants in summer

The two seasons of the year in which plants look most beautiful, colourful and leafy, are undoubtedly spring and summer, but with the arrival of high temperatures and sunny days our plants need a series of attentions to help them overcome the adverse weather conditions of the summer season. As well as in winter 100 watt grow lights, plants also suffer in summer and, therefore, in this article of we teach you some tips you need to know about how to care for plants in summer.

Steps to follow:

Before watering the plants, you should look at the type of plants you have, the temperature, the dryness of the environment and the size of the pots as the amount of water they require will vary from one to another. For example, smaller pots need daily watering, so it is recommended that you inform yourself about the specific care of each of your plants to keep them in good condition.

In summer it is better to water the plants in the early morning or at sunset and avoid those hours of the day when it is very hot, as the water evaporates more quickly. In addition to watering the plants, leave some water on the plates to keep them moist.

Special care must be taken with watering and its frequency because an excessive amount of water is also harmful to plants. The best way for the roots to absorb all the water is to water deeper from time to time and avoid frequent watering on the surface.

Don’t expose plants directly to the sun for a long time if you don’t want the high temperatures to cause burns on their leaves and roots. Place them in a cool area that has moments of shade so that they do not receive direct influence. Take special care with those plants that have been grown in the shade, and in the case of indoor species you can take them out to the terrace or balcony but without exposing them directly to solar radiation.

During the summer months, plants also need more specific care, such as good spraying to make them look beautiful. Clean each of their leaves with a water-soaked sponge and cut off those flowers and leaves that are dry and in poor condition to release them and encourage plant growth.

Finally, you should also add fertilizer and specific products against pests and parasites that can damage them to the pots. In this period, the invasion of plants by insects is very frequent and we must apply the appropriate treatments and pesticides regularly.
